The United Nations - The
Caribbean Asbestos Forum
The Caribbean Asbestos Forum was held in Trinidad & Tobago with 12
Caribbean Nations represented plus Canada and the United Kingdom. This forum was
sponsored by The United Nations, witht he support of the Secretariat for the Basel Convention and
CARIRI.
Don Bremner, Vice President of Operations of
Restoration Environmental Contractors was a guest speaker at the Caribbean Asbestos Forum
in Trinidad and Tobago. "The Caribbean Asbestos Forum: The Environmentally Sound
Management of Material Containing Asbestos, for the Development and Implementation of an
Asbestos and Environmental Management Program for The Control of Hazardous Wastes."
The United Nation's goal was for developing and implementing
an Asbestos Management
Program for each Caribbean nation.
The
Caribbean Countries represented were Antigua, Barbados, Bahamas, Belize, Cuba, Dominica,
St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Netherlands Antilles, Jamaica, Trinidad and
Tobago, The United Nations Secretariat of the Basel Convention.
There
were a number of independent guest speakers, plus representation from the Governments of
Canada and The United Kingdom, Great Britain.
The
Caribbean Asbestos Forum was organized by CARIRI the Caribbean Industrial Research
Institute in November and sponsored by the United Nations. |
